The Goblin 500 Sport is the upgraded and newer version of the beloved Goblin 500. It has a list of upgrades and new parts, it is lighter and has, of course, the new sleek speed look which already was a big success with the Goblin 380.
This heli is just perfect for beginners and people who come from smaller heli sizes or airplanes. It has the perfect ratio between cheap costs and a very precise flight feeling. It is big enough top fly very stabe and precise but tiny enough to put it in a small sportsbag or in the trunk of your car.
For this reason SAB made the new G500 Sport much cheaper and offers it as a normal kit or in a super combo with motor, esc and servos.
The heli comes as usual as a kit which you have to assemble by yourself. But everything is packed safe and in different bags with numbers. So if you follow the
colour printed manual, which is very logical and clear in my opinion, you cannot do anything wrong.
In every kit there are two sets of main and tail blades included, so in case of a crash... ;)
As usual the Goblin has a unique clear and tidy look. Every electric device has its proper position and a lot of tiny, innovative and intelligent
solutions help you to wire everything hidden or at least clean.
For this reason it is also easy to access the devices in case of mainetance or changing something without dismounting half of the heli, which is for me very important as I am testing a lot of new stuff.
Completely new with the 500 Sport is the possibility that you can use now standard size servos. These give you even more stability and precision. Of course you can also use midi
size servos, if you want to.
I use Graupner HBS 860 BB MG for the swashplate and Graupner HBS 770 BB MG for the tail: These HV servos are very cheap but very reliable and good.
I use Graupner servos in all of my machines and had no issues til now.
The motor is a Kontronik Pyro 600-12 and it is a small beast-power-machine. It is very compact, quiet and reliable. It sits on the top on a aluminum tray with
integrated cooling ribs.
The ESC is a Kontronik JivePro which sits under the battery tray. There it gets the best ventilation. Also you can directly solder the motor-ESC cables and also have short battery cables. The JivePro has a unique governor which is unreached for Low rpm flying. It has a HV BEC and can be programmed completely via the PC (via KProg).
As there were some main gear problems with the old Goblin 500, the new Sport has a all new high performance CNC quality gear which is made for hardcore 3D and
The FBL is a Graupner GR-18 which is a combined FBL with receiver. It saves a lot of wiring and space and the best thing is: You can completely
adjust it with your transmitter via telemetry.
So this means for you:
Do a basic setup at home, go out, fly, test, land, adjust values in the transmitter, fly, test....
all without the need to remove the canopy or carry a PC with you!
